How to do 'the work' during the hustle and bustle of summer...

SUMMER!  It feels surreal to sit back and think about the fact that we’re already halfway through JULY, am I right??  But with sun, warmth and no school for the kiddos comes late nights, parties, pools, beaches, the list goes on!  AND for some of us…exhaustion.
 
So I’m here to remind you what it means to do the work. Many of my clients, colleagues and friends ask me what that really means, it feels so subjective, and they’re not wrong. It can be very subjective; ultimately what works for some may not work for others. So on this beautiful July morning, here are some tips and tools to keep you on the path to being your very best self:

  • Pay attention ON purpose
  • Practice awareness daily by taking moments throughout the day to stop and be present
  • Identify what it means to be intentionally loving to yourself, and others…every day
  • Moving your body – yoga, walking, running, pilates, swimming…
  • Meditating – whether it’s guided or not, I can’t speak enough about the benefits of having a mindfulness routine
  • Drink lots of water

You are the artist of your life. YOU create your own reality. So don’t forget to paint how you want the story to go! If you don’t like how it’s going, re-write it! Change the narrative, change the tone; consciously stop to feel the sun on your face and practice gratitude for the warm summer breezes, the waves crashing on the shore, the blades of grass between your toes. The busyness of summer doesn’t have to be overwhelming and force you out of balance when you’re consistently making the conscious choice to do the work.
